The characteristic of visual impairment, affecting the optic nerve endings, is that it is irreversible; in other words, for glaucoma patients, once vision is lost, they will be permanently blind.
Given the potential risk of the disease in the community, Nghe An Eye Hospital screened 500 patients at risk of developing glaucoma and provided free medication to 65 patients currently undergoing glaucoma treatment.
