The hospital's achievements today are the result of the efforts of generations of staff, employees, doctors and nurses who have dedicated and built the hospital over the past 40 years. The predecessor was Nghe Tinh Endocrinology Station, established on November 14, 1977. In its history of construction and growth, the unit has gone through 4 stages of development, with different names. In the early days of its establishment, with only 5 staff, the unit lacked everything from facilities to medical equipment. However, the team of professional leaders, the Party Committee and the collective of cadres and civil servants have made constant efforts to overcome all difficulties to complete the task.
In 1991, Nghe Tinh Endocrine Station was renamed Nghe An Goiter Control Station. During this period, Nghe An Goiter Control Station completed the goal of the Phase I PCCRLTI program by the end of 2000: "Eliminate iodine deficiency in the entire province". At the same time, during this period, the unit began to apply scientific achievements to the examination and treatment of endocrine diseases. Scientific research was focused on specialized fields of endocrinology, which contributed to improving the effectiveness of examination and treatment (inpatient and outpatient) of diabetes - metabolic disorders later on, and in fact became a trusted address for people in the province and the region.
In 2002, the unit was renamed Nghe An Endocrine Center. Outstanding achievements were recorded at this stage, the Center completed the phase II target of the PCCRLTI Program by the end of 2005. In addition to the outpatient treatment task (70 - 80 thousand people/year), the center was also assigned 30 inpatient beds by the Health sector and the Provincial People's Committee. This was a turning point marking the unit's professional maturity, and was the premise for upgrading the center into a hospital.
On January 20, 2009, Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital was established under Decision No. 271/QD-UBND.VX of the Provincial People's Committee. The hospital has the function and task of both advising the Director of the Department of Health and directly implementing two key political tasks in parallel: Directly implementing and directing other medical units in the whole province to implement target programs for preventing and controlling CRLTI and preventing and controlling diabetes; providing specialized treatment for endocrine diseases.

Currently, the hospital is successfully deploying advanced technical expertise such as: Endoscopic thyroid surgery, multi-slice computer scanners, intensive care units, hemodialysis... Regarding organization and human resources, with reasonable solutions in attracting and training human resources, up to now, there have been 165 officers and employees trained from specialized level or higher, of which 30% of officers have specialized level I, II, doctorate and master's degrees. The hospital has developed more departments and rooms, currently there are 9 specialized departments and 3 functional rooms. The scale of examination rooms and inpatient beds has increased significantly, from 6 outpatient examination tables (in 2009) to 17 tables. Inpatient beds have increased from 50 beds (in 2009) to 200 planned beds and over 300 actual beds.
Thanks to that, the quality of medical examination and treatment at the hospital is increasingly improved. On average, each year the hospital admits, examines and treats 100 - 140 thousand outpatients (reaching 140% - 150% of the plan); inpatients treat 6,000 - 8,000 people/year (bed capacity reaches 167.4%). Some departments have made outstanding progress in expertise, such as the Department of General Surgery, etc., which is gradually contributing to comprehensive Basedow treatment technical services.
Along with focusing on improving quality, in recent times, the hospital has focused on improving the efficiency of medical examination and treatment management by deploying an internal LAN system. Improving the medical examination and treatment chain system, building a closed process, has shortened the waiting time of patients to the maximum, improving the efficiency of medical examination and treatment. Aiming at the satisfaction of patients, the hospital's staff, doctors and nurses have pioneered in implementing the code of conduct, regulations on medical ethics and innovating service style and attitude. Therefore, Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital has increasingly affirmed its position as a prestigious and quality medical unit; meeting the increasing needs of medical examination and treatment of the people.
The comprehensive development of Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital in recent times, along with the network of endocrinology examination and treatment in the province, has contributed greatly to reducing the burden on central hospitals, reducing medical examination and treatment costs for patients and the whole society. In the coming time, although there are many difficulties and challenges, with the help and facilitation of all levels, sectors and localities, the dynamism and creativity of the hospital's leadership, and the efforts and solidarity of the staff, doctors and nurses, Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital will continue to strive to excellently complete the assigned political tasks.
With outstanding results and achievements in recent times, Nghe An Endocrinology Hospital has been honored to receive many Certificates of Merit and Excellent Emulation Flags from the Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Health, and the Government. In particular, in 2009 and 2014, the unit was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal and Second Class Labor Medal. |
