(Baonghean) - Since its establishment, Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital has become a trusted address for disabled patients not only in the province but also in neighboring provinces. From that treatment effectiveness, on April 26, the Department of Health coordinated with Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital to organize a workshop on "Community-based rehabilitation for disabled people".

Effective in treatment
Having an accident while crossing the street, Mr. Dao Van Hien (born in 1991) in Hamlet 6, Linh Son Commune (Anh Son) underwent 3 surgeries. In early April 2018, Mr. Hien was taken by his family to Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital for rehabilitation in a state of paralysis of both arms and legs, and a fracture of the right femur.

Doctor Phan Thi Thinh - who directly treated patient Hien, discussed: With the patient's condition being quite serious, in order to treat and restore the patient's health so that he can soon reintegrate into the community, the Hospital has instructed the family on appropriate nutritional regimens combined with medication and exercise such as electrotherapy, electrolysis, electropulse 20 minutes/procedure/1 time/day; exercise 30 minutes/day; massage 1 area/30 minutes/day. This is one of the severe cases of the patient, who has been suffering for 3 years, so the family's perseverance is needed. The Hospital will apply the most appropriate treatment methods so that the patient can recover effectively.

Not only Mr. Dao Van Hien's case, but at Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital, there are currently hundreds of cases of motor disabilities from accidents, strokes, and other diseases that are being treated and rehabilitated here every day and every hour, and have brought about positive results. For example, the case of Dinh Khanh Bang, 6 years old, in Dien Hanh commune (Dien Chau), who is paralyzed on the right side of his body, has slurred speech, and cannot move his arms and legs; according to Mrs. Hoang Thi Kim - Bang's grandmother, the family has taken him to all the hospitals in the province and in the country for treatment, but he still has not improved. After researching, knowing that Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital can rehabilitate people with disabilities, the family decided to transfer him to the hospital. After more than 10 days at this hospital, he was taken care of attentively by doctors and nurses, and at the same time applied treatment and rehabilitation methods such as massage combined with physical therapy, now his arms and legs are softer, moving relatively easily. In particular, the child can now call “grandma” and “mom” clearly without stuttering like before. The family is very excited.

Or like the case of patient Phan Huu Quang (born in 1952) in Quynh Doi commune, Quynh Luu district who had a stroke 2 years ago. The day he was admitted to Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital, patient Quang could not walk and had to have family members support him, all personal activities depended on his wife and children. When we arrived at the hospital, Mr. Quang was learning to walk. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Loi (his wife) today did not have to support him like the day he was admitted to the hospital, excitedly said: "Since the day he had a stroke, I followed him from one hospital to another, not a single night of good sleep, not a single happy day. But now he can walk by himself, hold a spoon to eat rice, and sleep well at night. The whole family was crying tears of joy!...".

Implementing the Prime Minister's decision on community-based rehabilitation for people with disabilities, in recent times, Nghe An Rehabilitation Hospital has deployed the work of directing the lower level on rehabilitation and community-based rehabilitation (according to Circular 46/2013/TT - BYT). Specifically: Directing the lower level to develop techniques, improve the quality of rehabilitation; presiding over and coordinating with relevant units to implement community-based rehabilitation according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health; advising the higher management agency on building and developing the network and rehabilitation activities.

In the coming time, to provide more effective community-based rehabilitation for people with disabilities, the Hospital will continue to invest in facilities and staff, and at the same time develop specific plans and training programs on community-based rehabilitation for people with disabilities to submit to the Department of Health for approval; invite leading experts to directly train; and organize seminars to deploy the program. However, to implement effectively, the participation of relevant departments and branches is needed.
