Arrested for not paying 70 million VND transferred by mistake
After discovering the mistake, Mr. Thai tried every way to contact Ms. Thuy to ask for the money back, but Thuy deliberately avoided him and turned off her phone. She then withdrew the money and ran away.
On January 28, Colonel Nguyen Ba Doan, Chief of Cam Ranh City Police (Khanh Hoa) said that after 9 days on the run, Tran Thi Thuy (born in 1993, residing in Tra Long 1 residential group, Ba Ngoi ward, Cam Ranh city), a wanted person, was arrested in the evening of the same day.
According to the case file, on December 10, 2020, Mr. Le Quang Thai (born in 1980, residing in Luong Son 2 village, Vinh Luong commune, Nha Trang city) used Sacombank's Internet Banking service to transfer 70 million VND to pay off the debt to Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Thuy (born in 1981, residing in Thuan Phat residential group, Cam Thuan ward, Cam Ranh city).
Due to entering two wrong numbers in the account of the debtor, the above amountwrong transferto Tran Thi Thuy's account. After discovering the mistake, Mr. Thai tried every way to contact Ms. Thuy to ask for the money back, but Thuy deliberately avoided him and turned off her phone. Because she wanted to take 70 million VND from Mr. Thai, Thuy used her personal credit card many times to go to the automatic payment terminal (ATM) to withdraw all the money that Mr. Thai had mistakenly transferred to spend.

Angry at having his property illegally appropriated by others, on December 15, 2020, Mr. Le Quang Thai reported to the authorities and filed a lawsuit at Cam Ranh City People's Court. After many unsuccessful attempts to summon Tran Thi Thuy, on September 21, 2021, Cam Ranh City People's Court issued a document requesting the Cam Ranh City Police Department to initiate a criminal case due to signs of crime.
After conducting investigation activities and collecting relevant evidence and documents, on October 12, 2021, the Cam Ranh City Police Department issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute the accused for the crime of "Illegal possession of property" against Tran Thi Thuy. During the time of being subject to preventive measures in the form of a ban on leaving the place of residence, the accused went into hiding, so on January 19, 2022, the Cam Ranh City Police Department issued a wanted notice for Tran Thi Thuy.
After 9 days in hiding, on the evening of January 28, Tran Thi Thuy had just returned home when Senior Lieutenant Ngo Van Nam and Lieutenant Le Van Hoi, officers of the General Investigation Team of Cam Ranh City Police, suddenly arrived and arrested her.
