On June 18, while being escorted to the People's Court of Ha Dong District, Hanoi for trial, defendant Nguyen Van Trung (born 1983, in La Khe Ward, Ha Dong District, Hanoi) escaped.
This defendant was prosecuted for threatening to kill and illegally possessing military weapons, as prescribed in Article 133 and Article 304 of the 2015 Penal Code, amended and supplemented in 2017.

Previously, at 8:30 a.m. on June 18, following the order to extract the detainees, Detention Camp No. 2 (Hanoi Police) handed over to the escort team of Ha Dong District Police 7 defendants, including Nguyen Van Trung.
At 9:30 a.m. the same day, the escort team brought Trung and 6 other defendants to the headquarters of the Ha Dong District People's Court to serve the trial.
When the car stopped at the court yard, the police got out of the car, opened the back door of the car carrying the defendants, took the defendants who were handcuffed out of the car and brought them into the courtroom.
When the escort officer opened the lock to divide the defendants into courtrooms, Nguyen Van Trung suddenly pulled the number 8 lock that was still stuck on his right hand and ran away.
Police and people chased defendant Trung, but he ran into a pho restaurant (about 30m from the court gate), grabbed 2 knives in the restaurant, fought off the pursuing force, and then escaped towards Cau Den - Ha Dong.
After receiving the report, Hanoi City Police directed forces to coordinate in arresting defendant Trung.
