Seeing the phone robber trying to get on his motorbike and run away, the 25-year-old girl used her foot to step on the brake, struggled and knocked him down on the street, then called for help from the people.

Loc Ha District Police (Ha Tinh) are temporarily detaining Hoang The Quy (residing in Cuong Gian Commune, Nghi Xuan District) to investigate the act of robbery.

At around 9pm on July 23, the 25-year-old woman was standing on Provincial Road 9, passing through Thach Chau Commune (Loc Ha District), talking on her phone. At that moment, Quy, riding a motorbike with a covered license plate, stopped, approached and snatched the iPhone 6.

Surprised, the victim turned around and struggled. When Quy jumped on the motorbike and tried to start the engine and run away, the girl ran up and used her foot to brake the motorbike, at the same time using all her strength to knock the robber down on the road and shouted for help from the people around.

Hearing the shouts, students from the Le Huu Trung Armed Police College who lived near the scene ran to help, subdued the robber and reported to the Loc Ha District Police.

The incident is under investigation.
