The death of Bobbi Kristina Brown follows a family tragedy just over three years after Whitney Houston's passing.11/2/2012Whitney was found dead in the bathtub of a Los Angeles hotel room after an overdose of drugs. The Houston family could only console themselves with the fact that Kristina was finally at peace in God's arms and would be reunited with her mother, Whitney Houston.
A brief look at Kristina Bobbi's short and eventful 22-year life: Kristina Bobbi was born on March 4, 1993, and grew up surrounded by her mother's immense fame. The "I Will Always Love You" singer once shared, "It's so different when you're a mother; it changes your life. I don't live for myself anymore; I live for my child." When Bobbi was one year old, her mother carried her onto the stage to accept the 1994 American Music Award. Throughout her childhood, Whitney's daughter continued to be the center of attention, frequently appearing with her parents at various events.
However, the girl's happy days didn't last long, as her childhood was filled with drug addiction: both her parents were reportedly heavily addicted to drugs. There were even times when diva Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown openly smoked cocaine in front of their daughter. The late Whitney Houston's singing career also began to decline. In 1997, Whitney Houston and her husband divorced, leaving 14-year-old Bobbi to live with her mother. A year later, Whitney Houston's only daughter was rumored to have been admitted to a psychiatric hospital for treatment after attempting to stab her mother and slit her wrists in a suicide attempt. When Bobbi was 18, the National Enquirer published a photo of her snorting a white powder believed to be drugs, but she denied it.
But the tragedy didn't end there. In 2012, diva Whitney Houston was found unconscious in a hotel bathtub. Three causes of death were identified: drowning, a relapse of heart disease, and cocaine use. Her mother's death completely devastated 19-year-old Bobbi. She fainted and had to be hospitalized upon hearing the devastating news. Despite her grief, Bobbi always dreamed of following in her mother's footsteps: "She spent the past year writing and singing new songs and often made short videos of herself singing by the pool every afternoon. Bobbi didn't want to be known just as Whitney Houston's daughter, but as herself. She wanted to make her mother proud," a close friend shared.
Fans worldwide are expressing their deep sorrow for the Houston family. Many colleagues and friends of the late diva have also sent messages of condolence to Bobbi Kristina's family. Stars like Vivica A. Fox, Holly Robinson Peete, and Dulé Hill have offered words of comfort to both Bobbi Kristina and the Bobbi Brown family. Others have sent messages of "Rest in peace" to Kristina. Many also expressed that Bobbi Kristina must have gone through very difficult years without her mother by her side. Finally, mother and daughter have been reunited in heaven.
