A man lost 100 million VND in the blink of an eye after installing a fake “Public Service” app and following the instructions. Local police are investigating the incident.

On April 16, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police, said that the unit had just received a complaint from Mr. HVN (residing in Minh Thanh ward, Chon Thanh town) about a scammer impersonating a police officer calling to request confirmation of resident data information and then stealing money from his bank account.

Accordingly, the subject used a "spam" phone number to call Mr. HVN to guide him in confirming the population data information. Then the subject made friends via Zalo and sent the link https://dichvucong.nfgov.com (a fake website with an interface similar to the "public service" Portal).
