(Baonghean.vn) - Most Vietnamese people still let their children sit unsafely in available car seats, which are designed and sized for adults... Here's how to choose the right car seat for your baby.

  1. 1. Choose a car seat that is compatible with your car.

  1. Not all car seats fit all car seats, so check before you buy to ensure compatibility.

Car seat stores often have car seat samples to try on and check the compatibility of the product. And you can exchange or return the product if the seat is not suitable for your car. However, this will be time-consuming and very troublesome.

The surest and simplest way is to try installing the child car seat in your car's bench before buying it to save time and effort.

  2. 2. Choose a chair that is suitable for your baby's age, weight and height.

Typically, baby car seats are divided into 3 groups:

-Group 1 (9 months to 4 years): For children weighing 9 to 18 kg, rear-facing (or forward-facing) position, no airbags (except side airbags).

- Group 2 (from 4 to 6 years old): Use adult seat belt to secure child in rear-facing or front-facing position, for children from 15 kg to 25 kg.

- Group 3 (4 to 10 years old): Used for children from 22 kg to 36 kg with a forward-facing seating position. This is a booster seat to raise the child to a moderate height so that the adult seat belt can be used.

  1. 3. Check the cord - make sure it pulls back and forth smoothly and locks securely
  2. If your car seat uses the car seat belt, you should check that the belt pull is long, smooth and secure, and fits the latch on the seat. Once the belt is in place and properly fastened, there should be no more than 2cm of movement - that is, when you put the car seat aside and put the belt on your child's seat, your seat should fit snugly and about 2cm away from your child's seat.

    1. How to install car seat

    2. For children under 1 year old (weighing less than 9kg), it is mandatory to install a car seat facing the driver (sitting facing the back of the car).

    3. For older children (heavier), install the car seat facing the driver, with the best and safest installation position being behind the driver.

Do not install the car seat upside down on the side of the car where the airbag is installed as it may cause injury or even death to the child.

When locking the seat belt, make sure it is placed over the baby's pelvis (not over the abdomen).

After installation, check to see if the child is comfortable (no more than two fingers can be inserted between the seat belt and the child's chest).
