Herbs, fruits, and breads can all be frozen. Storing them in the freezer will extend their shelf life by up to 6 months to a year.

Reader's Digest advises housewives that when freezing food, they should wrap it carefully and label it to keep track of the date it was put in the refrigerator. You should also divide the food into small portions and package each portion individually so that it is easy to defrost and prepare later.

Here are the freezing methods for each specific food:

Fresh Fruit: Separate the berries and freeze on a baking sheet

To prevent fruit from spoiling when frozen, wash and dry it and place it on a cookie sheet. Then transfer the sheet to the freezer until the fruit is frozen, then remove it and store it in an airtight container. By freezing each fruit individually, you can easily take out the amount you need for a dish without disturbing the rest.

Meat: Wrap and label

When repackaging meat for freezing, cut the label from the meat package and stick it on the outside of the new package so you know the information about the meat: the time of purchase as well as its weight. If the meat is cut into small pieces, you should wrap each piece separately. With minced meat, you should also divide it into bite-sized portions, storing each small amount separately will be more convenient when taking it out to defrost and process.

Bread: Wrap and cherish each loaf

Bread dries out quickly when stored in the refrigerator. However, if you store it in the freezer, it will still be fresh for six months. First, wrap each loaf tightly in plastic wrap and then place it in the freezer. Do not stack the bread on top of each other or place anything else on top of the bread to avoid breaking the crust. When you are ready to eat it, defrost it and put it in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.

Pie with filling: Cover tightly and add time

To freeze a freshly baked cake, first cool it to room temperature. Then, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and label the package with the date you started making and storing it. If the cake is too sticky and difficult to wrap, you can freeze it first, then wrap it in plastic wrap and put it back in the freezer.

Herbs: Chop finely

You can freeze some herbs such as parsley, chives, basil. Wash the herbs, shake them dry and then dry them with paper towels. Next, chop the herbs and put them in a plastic box or a plastic bottle and put them in the freezer, ensuring you can keep the herbs fresh for a month.

You can also store ginger in the freezer. The ginger should be washed, dried, and stored in a plastic bag. When you want to eat it, just cut off the part you want to eat.

Cream: Cover tightly with plastic wrap.

To keep your ice cream fresh after the first serving, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to prevent ice crystals from forming. Then replace the cardboard and return it to the freezer. Don’t leave the ice cream in the freezer for too long, and eat it soon after you buy it.
