(Baonghean.vn) - He said the secret to his longevity is not eating a lot "because I have no teeth".

Emma Morano, born on November 29, 1899, lives in Verbania, a town in northern Italy and is currently the oldest person in the world. She is the last living person born in the 19th century, spanning three centuries, and today (November 29) is her 117th birthday.

The secret to his longevity seems to be outside the rules of conventional medicine. "I eat two eggs a day and a few biscuits. I don't eat much because I don't have teeth," Morano shared.

He said he might not eat birthday cake at his 117th birthday party, "I had a little before, but then I didn't feel very well."

Mrs. Morano was a rather lonely woman. After the death of her only son, she separated from her abusive husband in 1938 and lived alone, working in a jute sack factory.

Since then, he has lived independently, only starting to rely on a full-time carer last year. Although he is still very alert, he is deaf, has difficulty speaking and his eyesight is not good enough to watch television. He spends most of his time sleeping or snacking.

Since being listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s oldest living person, he said that many people from all over the world have visited him. “I didn’t invite anyone, but they kept coming. People from all over the world like America, Austria, Milan,… came to my house to see me.”

On his birthday, he will be greeted by relatives, journalists, the mayor of Verbania and many other fans. In the town of Verbania, cinemas will also host a musical performance in honor of the 3-century Morano.
