(Baonghean) - In 2016, Mr. Vi Van Luong - Secretary of the Nua village Party cell, Yen Khe commune (Con Cuong) was recognized as an outstanding party member for 5 consecutive years. Nghe An Newspaper reporter had an interview with Mr. Vi Van Luong about the "secret" to his and his party cell's success.

PV:Although many people have introduced this community tourism village, when I came here, I was still surprised by the cleanliness, friendliness and peacefulness of a highland village that “does” tourism. Could you briefly introduce Nua village and the lives of the people here?

Mr. Vi Van Luong:Nua village currently has 154 households with 646 people. The long-standing tradition of the people is agricultural production, the whole village currently has nearly 17 hectares of rice fields, 80 hectares of which were previously planted with crops, but in the past few years, after the Party cell issued a resolution to change the crop structure, the people have gradually switched to growing tea (50 hectares), oranges and a few other types of trees. And these new crops have been gradually creating a fairly stable income for the villagers. In particular, since 2015, Nua village has had a new profession of "doing" community tourism with the support of the Party Committee, authorities at all levels and the Management Board of Pu Mat National Park.

In early March 2017, the Japanese organization Jica sent a working group to the village to train the people in tourism skills and sponsor the construction of 3 toilets to serve tourists. Witnessing the increasingly stable lives of the people, I myself feel happy, and I, like the Party members and the people, are always grateful to the Party and the State for always caring for and taking care of the people's lives.

PV:It is known that the Nua village Party Cell has been recognized by superiors for many years as a typical strong and clean Party Cell. How can a collective achieve this?

Mr. Vi Van Luong:2007 was the first year I was elected as Secretary of the Nua Village Party Cell. That year, the cell had 17 party members but was only “ranked” in the weak group because its activities were moderate and ineffective, most of the party members were old and for many years in a row, no new party members were recruited. Therefore, the first thing I thought of when leading the cell was to put the target of recruiting new party members at the top. This was not only a solution to rejuvenate the team but also to create a long-term source for the next generation of the Party cell.

By 2016, the Nua village Party Cell had 29 party members, recruiting an average of 1-3 new party members each year. And we also determined that, in order to unleash potential and help people's lives become more and more prosperous, the Party Cell must be a pioneer organization in helping people access the policies of the Party and the State. The policies put forward by the Party Cell must be based on local reality, appropriate and feasible, serving the practical interests of the people. And in implementation, cadres and party members must be exemplary leaders.

PV:Can you give more specific examples?

Mr. Vi Van Luong:For example, mobilizing people not to have a third child or more. First of all, we must propagate to people that if they have too many children and parents cannot take care of their children's education properly, not only will their children suffer when they grow up, but the parents themselves will also have to worry more. After that, the Party cell advocated that Party members must be the ones to seriously implement this, only having 2 children to raise them well. And reality has shown that families that only have 2 children have a better life, their children also eat better, and dress better than families with many children. Since then, from 2008 to now, Nua village has not had anyone giving birth to a third child or more.

We determined that only economic development is a long-term strategy for people to stabilize their lives and have the conditions to participate in village and national affairs, which we still call social work. Therefore, the Party cell issued a resolution on changing the structure of crop varieties, mobilizing people to gradually convert ineffective rice growing areas to crops suitable for the local climate and soil, such as tea and oranges.

After the resolution was issued, the party members in the cell and I myself encouraged my family to implement it first. My family currently grows 3 hectares of oranges, 5 sao of tea, raises 2 buffaloes, a few pigs and a flock of dozens of chickens.

Another thing that the Party cell has successfully led and received enthusiastic response from the people is the establishment of the Thai Folk Song Club. From only a few participants, the club now has 18 members serving the needs of the villagers, tourists and important events of the commune and district.

PV:It is known that in 2016, he was the only individual recognized by the Con Cuong District Party Committee as an outstanding party member for 5 consecutive years. Having held many positions, from the Commune Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the District Farmers' Association, then Vice Chairman of the District Fatherland Front and retired as the Village Party Cell Secretary, what is the secret for a Party Cell Secretary to achieve such success?

Mr. Vi Van Luong:For me, as well as many other retired party members, in addition to work experience, I always want to continue working and contributing to my homeland. Depending on my ability, I will contribute my best. Especially guiding and nurturing the younger generation, my brothers and children to clearly recognize the right direction, to strive positively so that they can both take care of themselves and their families, and contribute to building their villages and creating a united and happy community.

Every person, no matter where they live, needs a community and a collective. Those of us who have reached retirement age when working in the locality, in addition to being predecessors, are also grandfathers and fathers in the family.

I always make sure that no matter what job I undertake, I must try my best, and not think about striving for this or that title. Being recognized by the organization is a great joy, but behind every individual title is always the achievement and support of the collective.

I consider myself lucky to live and work in an environment where people have a tradition of solidarity and hard work. They work hard, make positive contributions to the community, and are conscious of building a rich and civilized society. That is also the secret that helps Nua village to prosper day by day, helping the Nua village Party cell to become stronger and stronger.

PV:Thank you!
