Honorable and proud, but

Honorable and proud, but"Full of responsibility" is the feeling Xong Ba No shared with us. At only 25 years old, Xong Ba No was trusted by the Party branch to be elected as the Secretary of the Party branch of Pha Lom village, Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district since 2008, and was also honored to be elected as a delegate representing the ethnic minority people to the Presidium to preside over the Party Congress. The 25th Party Congress of Tuong Duong District.

The Pha Lom village in Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district, has 86 households with over 500 inhabitants, all of whom are ethnic Mong people. Located in a border area with difficult transportation, the villagers' lives mainly depend on slash-and-burn agriculture and self-sufficiency. As the Party branch secretary, finding ways to help the villagers overcome poverty and develop their economy is a constant concern for Party branch secretary Xong Ba No and the Pha Lom village Party branch.

After discussions and agreement with party members, the Party branch issued a thematic resolution focusing on poverty alleviation and economic development. The Party branch assigned members to be responsible for specific households, and, in coordination with mass organizations and border guards, propagated and mobilized the villagers to refrain from burning forests for slash-and-burn agriculture, eradicate opium cultivation, stop drug trafficking, prevent illegal migration and proselytization, and reduce the birth rate, contributing to poverty reduction, especially addressing the mentality of relying on state support.

To ensure the Resolution was put into practice, and that the people listened and followed it, Party branch secretary Xong Ba No mobilized Party members in the branch to be at the forefront in complying with all policies of the Party and the State, as well as those of the branch, and to propagate and encourage their relatives to implement them well. Gradually, this transformed the people's awareness and changed their production practices.

Along with introducing new, high-yield crop varieties suitable for the local soil, such as taro (which is now grown on over 4 hectares per year), green squash, cucumbers, etc., Xong Ba No also encouraged people to develop large-scale livestock farming such as buffalo and cattle in enclosures; and encouraged people to reclaim land for rice cultivation.

From single-crop production, the area of paddy rice cultivation has now increased to double-crop production per year. Mobilizing the people's labor through the construction of roads facilitates travel and production... Along with support and investment from the State, such as programs 134, 135, and 30a... has created conditions to improve the spiritual and material lives of the people.

Thanks to sound policies, under the leadership of the Party branch and with the unity of the people, Pha Lom, once a poor and backward village, is gradually transforming. Transportation is more convenient, and the people have access to and use information technologies such as watching television and listening to the radio. Many households have made breakthroughs and achieved economic prosperity, such as the family of Mr. Xong Pha Chu developing a taro cultivation and buffalo farming model, Mr. Xong Cho Thai raising cattle, and many households in the village raising Sind crossbred cattle.

Many families have replaced their dilapidated thatched houses with new ones. The number of poor households in the village has decreased to 40, and five new Party members have been admitted in the past two years. Pha Lom is also a village that has performed well in border security work. This success is thanks to the contributions of the enthusiastic and dynamic Party branch secretary, Xong Ba No.

Sharing with us, Xong Ba No said: "In the coming time, the Party branch will focus on leading the people in implementing the district's major project of planting forests, growing grass, and raising large livestock. We will expand the area of wet rice cultivation to provide food for the people, lead the people in poverty alleviation, and develop the economy. Especially, we will eliminate the mentality of dependence and reliance, encouraging self-reliance in life, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolutions of the Tam Hop Commune Party Committee and the Tuong Duong District Party Committee, towards the 17th Provincial Party Congress."
