Da Nang Party Secretary talks about the closed trial of Mr. Phan Van Anh Vu
Answering questions from many retired officials, Mr. Truong Quang Nghia said that Vu "Nhom" revealed state secrets so the trial must be closed.
On the morning of July 24, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia and Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Huynh Duc Tho met with 40 retired officials who are participating in activities at the Thai Phien Club.
Member Dang Van wondered why Phan Van Anh Vu's trial on July 30 must be held in secret and where? "But even if the trial is closed, the results and content must be made public for the people to know. In Da Nang, those related to VuAluminumPeople already know, so we must deal with it severely to regain trust," said Mr. Van.

Mr. Van suggested that the city leaders learn from experience in state management in the area, when many problems have arisen that need to be resolved in the past, such as handing over land to investors, blocking all the way down to the sea, now having to ask them to transfer every meter of land to open the way down to the sea for the people; violations in the construction of high-rise buildings; Chi Lang stadium...
Secretary of the City Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia informed that on July 30-31, the People's Court of Da Nang City will try defendant Phan Van Anh Vu and because he "revealed state secrets, the trial must be held in private". When the verdict is announced, the court will make it public and the press will certainly report it so that people across the country will know.
Mr. Nghia said that after the trial for the crime of Revealing State Secrets, Mr. Phan Van Anh Vu will continue to be tried for two other crimes: "Abusing power while performing official duties" and "Tax evasion".
"The influence of VuAluminum"The Vu "Nhom" case is not only related to Da Nang but also many other central and local agencies. Among them, the huge violations are related to the purchase and sale of public land.
"Vu Nhom and Ut Troc are two people who are scheduled to be tried this July," Mr. Nghia informed.
Retaking Chi Lang Stadium must comply with legal regulations
Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that Da Nang is trying to negotiate to get back Chi Lang Stadium. With determination, the city government will be able to do it. But the process is not simple because this is the remaining property that is being executed in connection with the Pham Cong Danh case.

Considering that Chi Lang Stadium is not only a "hotbed" but also associated with the history of the struggle of the Da Nang Party Committee (where the Thai Phien Provisional Revolutionary Committee held a rally to celebrate the victory on August 28, 1945; soldier Le Do was shot and killed by the Americans...), Mr. Nghia said that taking back Chi Lang Stadium is the "wish" of the people and leaders of the city now.
"But taking back Chi Lang Stadium must also comply with legal procedures. The city will have to go through a legal struggle. The determination of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to raise the issue is not too far-fetched but completely within the allowable capacity, but must be done strictly so as not to affect the investment environment of Da Nang," Mr. Nghia added.
The stadium with 4 facades in the city center was assigned by the People's Committee of Da Nang City to Thien Thanh Group as a commercial and service complex since 2010, with an area of nearly 6 hectares. After Pham Cong Danh was arrested (July 2014), the project was suspended and is waiting for its fate to be decided.
Some party members were eliminated from the cadre planning.
Sharing about overcoming violations after Conclusion 292 of the Central Inspection Committee, Mr. Nghia said that the city has strictly implemented four contents. Particularly, the two contents on personnel work and land management are facing many problems.
Recently, the City Party Committee has revised a number of working regulations of the Standing Committee; revoked and annulled a number of documents of the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee with content that is not in accordance with legal regulations; and disciplined 5 members of the City Party Committee Executive Committee (3 warnings, 2 reprimands).
Regarding personnel work, Mr. Nghia informed that recently "some comrades were removed from the list" due to age and quality criteria. "The worst thing here is that when the comrades held a review meeting, they just thought that because they were comrades, teammates, and loved each other, when voting, everyone completed their tasks excellently, leading to no basis for removing weak people from the list," he said.
According to him, if veteran party members still have a mentality of being too lenient when voting, fearing that their comrades will be affected, then the people will not know who to rely on. The old story in Vietnam is that once in, there is no way out, once up, there is no way down. Therefore, when perfecting the planning of the leadership team, it is necessary to implement it in parallel with the regulations on rotation, training, and evaluation of cadres.
