Provincial Party Secretary inspects dam safety
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 12, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation inspected the safety of a number of dams in Nam Dan and Nghi Loc districts.

In Nam Dan district, the Provincial Party Secretary personally inspected the dam foot system of Da Han reservoir in Nam Thanh commune. This is a reservoir with a capacity of more than 2.1 million m3 of water, serving irrigation water for Nam Thanh and Nam Nghia communes, Nam Dan district.
Heavy rains in recent days have caused a leak in the dam body. Currently, the authorities have taken initial steps to ensure the safety of the dam and assigned people to monitor the water level in the reservoir. Regarding the solution to handle the leak, Mr. Nguyen Sy Hung said that they will use the method of drilling and grouting expanded soil mixed with cement to handle it.

Next, the Provincial Party Secretary inspected Khe Thi reservoir in Nghi Cong Nam commune, Nghi Loc district. The reservoir has a capacity of 3 million m3 of water for irrigation of 300 hectares of agricultural land in Nghi Loc district.
Reporting at the scene, Director of Nam Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited, Bach Hung Tuyen, the lake operator, said that as soon as the dam body of the lake was found to be leaking, they immediately took action and assigned people to be on duty regularly to monitor.

At the dams inspected, after hearing about the dam leakage treatment, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh requested management units and relevant authorities to continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the safety of the dams.
In particular, the Provincial Party Secretary noted that currently the East Philippines and moving towards the East Sea have the potential to strengthen into a storm. Therefore, the functional forces must pay close attention to safely operate the dam.

A quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province shows that as of 10:00 a.m. on October 12, there were 625 large and small lakes and dams in the province, of which the locality managed 533; all of them are now full.
Trai Ga Dam, Nghi Van Commune, Nghi Loc District, with a capacity of 0.1 million m3, was flooded by heavy rain, so the spillway was widened 5m to discharge floodwater and ensure dam safety.
In general, dam projects have had their flood and storm prevention plans approved, and localities and units are implementing them according to the approved plans.
