Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung inspects and directs response to storm No. 5
Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 5, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung requested that all levels, sectors and localities absolutely must not be negligent or subjective, must proactively respond, and ensure maximum safety for people's lives and property.
On the afternoon of August 24, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee directly inspected and directed the response to storm No. 5 in coastal localities. Accompanying him were leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and related departments, branches and units.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung inspected and directed the response to storm No. 5 at the Lach Con storm shelter in Quynh Mai ward; the Lach Quen storm shelter in Quynh Phu commune; and inspected the evacuation site in Quynh Mai ward.
Local leaders reported and implemented the directions of the Secretariat, the Prime Minister, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Communes and wards along the coast have been drastically organizing measures to respond to storm No. 5 with the motto "4 on-site".


Quynh Mai Ward has made a plan to evacuate 245 households, with more than 900 people, to a safe place when the storm makes landfall. Quynh Phu Commune has made a plan to evacuate 521 households, with more than 1,800 people from villages along the dike and near the mountain to cultural houses, schools, and high-rise buildings for shelter.
The province has more than 2,900 vessels, with 13,240 workers directly engaged in fishing. As of 12:00 on August 24, all vessels in the area had reached safe anchorage, no fishing vessels were uncontactable, and no fishing vessels were operating in dangerous areas. People have tied up and reinforced their boats, and pulled fish rafts ashore to avoid the storm.


After listening to the report and inspecting the situation, the Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the preparation work to respond to storm No. 5 of the localities; at the same time, he emphasized that this is a storm that is forecast to be very strong, moving quickly, the scope and intensity of influence on the sea and land is very wide and dangerous, therefore, we absolutely must not be negligent or subjective.
In that spirit, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung requested all levels, sectors and localities to strictly implement the direction of the Secretariat, the Prime Minister's telegram and the dispatch and telegram of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on focusing on urgent response to storm No. 5.

All levels, sectors and localities closely monitor the developments of storms and floods caused by storm circulation; regularly update and provide timely and complete information on natural disasters so that people can proactively respond and ensure safety; disseminate and guide people on response measures and skills, especially for strong winds, flash floods, inundation and landslides.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung requested all levels, sectors and localities to focus on leading, directing and effectively implementing measures to respond to storm No. 5 and floods caused by the storm with the most urgent and drastic spirit, proactively taking response measures at the highest level to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and state property, and minimize damage.

Localities direct, guide, inspect, urge and mobilize forces to support people in strengthening houses, trimming trees, reinforcing and protecting headquarters, warehouses, production, business and service establishments, public works and infrastructure works.
Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung requested localities to continue reviewing and proactively arranging forces and means to be ready to organize and deploy support work to evacuate and relocate people in unsafe areas.

"Resolutely do not let people stay on ships, boats, cages, and aquaculture huts when the storm directly affects them. Measures must be taken to prevent and fight fires and explosions. If necessary, coercive measures must be taken to ensure people's safety," emphasized Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung.
Localities must proactively arrange forces, materials and means in key areas to be ready to deploy response, rescue and relief work when situations arise; reserve food, provisions and necessities in residential areas that are isolated due to floods and landslides, to limit food shortages when storms and floods cause prolonged isolation.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and international forecasting centers, storm No. 5 (Kajiki) may reach level 12-13, gusting to level 15-16 in the Gulf of Tonkin and the sea from Quang Tri province to Hue city.
This is a very strong storm, moving quickly, with a wide and dangerous range and intensity of influence on the sea and land. The forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also assessed that the storm will continue to strengthen; it is forecasted that by the morning of August 25, the storm will likely reach level 11-12, gusting to level 15, over the sea from Thanh Hoa province to Hue city and enter the mainland of the Central region.
