Training quality must come first

Speaking to leaders and students of Vinh University, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh affirmed that human resource development is the top national policy. For Vinh University, a school with a long tradition, human resource training not only meets the needs of Nghe An province but also the region and the whole country.

With that viewpoint, the Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the province pays great attention to Vinh University, the school's mission is also the locality's mission, the locality's responsibility is to support the school in achieving the highest quality training goals and hopes that teachers will take the perspective of a good training brand, creating long-term prestige in the training process.

To do so, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh raised the issue of honesty in all activities, if not honest, the disease of achievement cannot be eliminated. Because currently, the labor market evaluates the quality of graduates. "Therefore, exams must be honest, learning must be self-conscious", the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized. "The school also takes care of and develops a better team of cadres and lecturers; innovates training programs, textbooks, and lesson plans".

In addition, the Provincial Party Secretary strongly agreed with Vinh University's serious self-assessment, thereby self-assessing its weaknesses and strengths to find ways to overcome them. Especially the foreign language assessment of staff and lecturers. Because when using a foreign language well, there is a huge advantage, especially in finding and effectively exploiting documents to serve research and teaching. At the same time, the school needs to promote its tradition to move forward while finding a breakthrough.

Regarding the development goals of Vinh University, the Provincial Party Secretary agreed that the school should develop in the direction of an applied university, but it is also necessary to build a number of development areas that focus on research to have a foundation for developing a research university.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh also said that the school has done relatively well in terms of revenue but mainly relies on the large number of students. Therefore, to solve this problem, the school must develop additional revenue sources. “Why don’t we provide services: consulting, retraining? Put the issue like that in the long-term goal to implement. The current trend of universities is to become training and research centers and have a service part,” the Provincial Party Secretary suggested about the development goal of Vinh University.

Regarding the school's research, the Provincial Party Secretary requested that the Department of Science and Technology should proactively order the school to research in a field of the province such as agriculture. On the contrary, in order for the Department of Science and Technology to have confidence, the school must build a few good centers and laboratories, and first of all, in the current conditions, it is necessary to build quality research groups.

After graduating, it is not necessary to work for the government.

At the meeting, students from law and education majors asked about the province’s solutions to solve employment problems for students after graduation and wanted to receive advice from the Provincial Party Secretary. Responding to the students, Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh affirmed that the State and local authorities are very concerned about this issue and are responsible for creating enough jobs for the people, especially students and young people.

However, the Provincial Party Secretary also pointed out the reality that many students after graduation only want to work in the State sector. Meanwhile, not only the education sector but also the State sector in general, job positions are saturated, not to mention the implementation of streamlining the payroll, so applying for a State job is very difficult.

Therefore, it is necessary to change the mindset of the labor market, which is to work in the private sector and also to expand the scope of job search not only in Nghe An but also nationwide and internationally; at the same time, the Government is having a support program for starting a business, if any student has the capacity and conditions, they should boldly implement it. On the side of Nghe An province, it is actively attracting investment to solve employment for workers.

Acknowledging the opinions and efforts of Vinh University students, Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh gave advice for each student to advance with their own abilities: “You must pay attention to equipping yourself with foreign languages ​​and IT to have an advantage in the labor market. We need to maintain the purity of young people, be honest with ourselves and others; study truly to be a quality human resource. If we have perseverance and determination, we will succeed despite many setbacks and challenges.”

On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh presented a souvenir, a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, to Vinh University and 15 scholarships, each worth 2 million VND, to students with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies at the school.
