Mr. Dang Xuan Tu, Vice Chairman of Xuan Giang Commune (Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh) said that at around 9am on February 19, Mr. Dang Van Phai (42 years old, residing in Lam Thuy hamlet) led the buffalo to the field to work. According to Mr. Tu, at that time the field was very deserted. After goring its owner, the buffalo fell into the field, stirring up dirt. A man who was walking from afar saw this and called for everyone to chase the buffalo away, but could not save Mr. Phai.

"Mr. Phai had many wounds on his stomach and his clothes were torn," said Mr. Tu. The victim's family said that this male buffalo was bought by Mr. Phai to work in the fields for the past 7 years. It was normally gentle and had never gored anyone.
