BIDV provides nearly 900,000 billion VND to the economy

(Baonghean) - In 2017, in addition to providing nearly 863 trillion VND in credit to serve the needs of the economy, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) also actively implemented many measures to remove difficulties for businesses, especially always accompanying Nghe An in investment attraction conferences.

Providing 862,604 billion VND of credit capital

In recent years, BIDV has proactively and actively implemented the Government's socio-economic development policies and the State Bank's monetary policies, especially Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP and Directive No. 01/CT-NHNN of the State Bank, contributing to macroeconomic growth and promoting local development.

According to preliminary statistics, in 2017, the entire banking industry provided about 6.6 million billion VND of credit (an increase of approximately 19% compared to 2016). In that overall achievement, BIDV contributed positively with total outstanding loans to the economy reaching 862,604 billion VND, an increase of 17% compared to 2016, accounting for 13.12% of the credit scale of the entire banking industry.

BIDV has focused on lending to 5 priority sectors as directed by the Government (rural agriculture, export, small and medium enterprises, supporting industries, and high-tech application enterprises). Outstanding loans for rural agriculture, supporting industries, and export increased by 20-25%, while loans for high-tech application increased by over 40%...

One of BIDV's successes last year was credit growth for the individual customer segment and the small and medium enterprise customer segment. For individual customers, retail credit grew by 33%, reaching VND238,526 billion. In addition to credit capital, BIDV also actively served more than 10 million customers.

BIDV's credit for small and medium-sized enterprise customers in 2017 grew 31% compared to 2016, reaching VND220,561 billion, accounting for 25.6% of BIDV's total outstanding credit.

In terms of terms, BIDV's credit flow focuses on short-term with a growth rate of 25%, while medium and long-term credit growth is controlled at 8.3%.

Actively support the market, businesses and localities

Implementing sustainable development goals and investing in green growth, in recent times, BIDV has provided green credit worth 2 billion USD, with an annual increase in outstanding green credit of about 18-20%, focusing on areas such as power generation, renewable energy, water supply and drainage, flood prevention, high-tech agriculture, etc.

Actively taking the lead in implementing solutions to remove difficulties for businesses, supporting the country's economic development according to the Government's direction in Resolution No. 35/NQ-CP, Directive No. 26/CT-TTg,... BIDV reduced lending interest rates for priority subjects to 6.5%/year; saved operating costs through strict management of business capital, ensuring the correct use of expenditure sources and purposes, promoting cost allocation to create conditions to reduce lending interest rates, support customers; simplified credit granting procedures; implemented credit programs/packages with a capital support scale of up to 50-60 trillion VND/year.

At the same time, BIDV also actively supports local economic development through many practical activities such as organizing important economic seminars, investment promotion conferences in many localities such as Son La, Nghe An, Thai Binh, Quang Nam, Tuyen Quang... For Nghe An, BIDV has always accompanied the province in the past 10 years to organize conferences to attract investment and arrange capital for projects.

Diversify high-quality credit products

In the strong development trend of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, it is inevitable that businesses need to apply technology to their operations to better serve customers' needs. Facing this demand, BIDV has also focused on investing in developing new technology applications, building a banking and financial services ecosystem. Continuing to promote its position as the leading bank in the readiness index for application and development of information and communication technology (ICT Index) among Vietnamese banks over the past 10 years. In 2017, BIDV provided the market with many high-tech products and services such as: BUNO product - money transfer without remembering account numbers; Payment product via Samsung Pay; 24/7 Interbank Fast Money Transfer product on internet, mobile and ATM channels; 24/7 Electronic Customs Tax Payment service; BIDV SmartBanking product; payment products using QR code...

A highlight of BIDV in 2017 in the field of providing modern products and utilities is the official deployment of the Contact Center system with advanced functions, integrated with other BIDV application management systems, allowing users to access applications and exploit customer information quickly. In addition, BIDV has successfully deployed an online branch on Facebook, diversifying the way customers approach the bank, and regularly updating information about BIDV's products and services.

By December 31, 2017, BIDV's total assets reached VND1,176,000 billion, an increase of 16.7% compared to 2016; continuing to affirm its position as the largest joint stock commercial bank in Vietnam. BIDV paid more than VND5,000 billion to the State budget in 2017, ranking among the top enterprises paying to the State budget.

BIDV also serves the diverse needs of customers well with a network of 191 branches and 854 transaction offices.

In 2017, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of its establishment, BIDV was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the State of Vietnam, the First Class Independence Medal by the State of Laos, and the Mohasereivath-class Monisaraphon Medal by the King of Cambodia. BIDV was also voted “Top 1,000 Global Banks” by The Banker Magazine; voted “Commercial Bank with Brand Value in the Top 500 Global and Leading in Vietnam” by Brand Finance; and recognized by the Asian Development Bank as “Leading Partner Bank in Vietnam”...
