The South China Sea is hit by the first storm of the year.
On the evening of February 1st, the storm will move into the southeastern part of the South China Sea, then gradually weaken into a tropical depression.
Typhoon Kajiki is currently active over the central Philippines, with maximum sustained winds near the center reaching Category 8 (62 to 74 km per hour), and gusts of Category 9 and 10.
The Central Meteorological and Hydrological Center forecasts that in the next 24 hours, the storm will move in a direction between West and West-Northwest, traveling at 20-25 km per hour. By the evening of the second day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the storm will enter the southeastern part of the East Sea, then gradually weaken into a tropical depression.
As of 7:00 AM on February 2nd, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 12.4 degrees North latitude and 117.1 degrees East longitude, about 330km east-northeast of Song Tu Tay Island (part of the Truong Sa archipelago). The strongest winds near the center of the tropical depression were at level 6 or 7 (39 to 61 km per hour), with gusts up to level 8.

Over the next 24-48 hours, the tropical depression will move mainly in a west-northwest direction, traveling at approximately 10-15 km per hour and gradually weakening into a low-pressure area.
As of 7:00 AM on February 3rd, the center of the low-pressure area was located at approximately 13.5 degrees North latitude and 114.5 degrees East longitude, over the sea between the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. The strongest wind speed at the center of the low-pressure area had decreased to below level 6 (below 39 km per hour).
Due to the influence of the storm, which has weakened into a tropical depression, the eastern part of the central South China Sea (including the northeastern sea area of the Spratly Islands) will experience increasingly strong winds, reaching level 7, level 8 near the storm's center, with gusts up to level 10. The sea will be rough.
