Personnel changes at the Ministry of Industry and Trade: Many leaders take on new positions.
Along with the organizational restructuring process, on August 21st, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh issued several decisions related to personnel changes.
Recently, the Government issued Decree No. 98/ND-CP on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to better meet the demands of the new situation.
A notable point in Government Decree 98 is that the administrative and non-business units within the organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade have been reorganized and streamlined from 35 units to 30 units (the initial plan was to reduce them to 28 units).
The organizational structure of the Ministry of Industry and Trade has undergone significant changes. Specifically, the Market Management Department has been "upgraded" to the General Department of Market Management.
The General Department of Energy is no longer retained; it has been replaced by new units such as the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, and the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy.

The Finance Department and the Business Innovation Department have merged into one department: the Finance and Business Innovation Department.
The Heavy Industry Department and the Light Industry Department are no longer separate but have been merged into one agency, the Industry Department.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also established two new departments based on the former Competition Management Department: the Trade Defense Department and the Competition and Consumer Protection Department.
The Department of E-commerce and Information Technology has also been renamed the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy.
The departments responsible for trade with foreign partners have also been streamlined into two departments: the Asia-Africa Market Department and the Europe-America Market Department.

With the General Department of Energy being divided into several departments and bureaus (such as the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, and the Bureau of Electricity and Renewable Energy), the leaders of the General Department of Energy also received new assignments.
Specifically, from August 21st, Mr. Dang Huy Cuong, former Director General of the General Department of Energy, will be in charge of the Energy Saving and Sustainable Development Department.
Mr. Phuong Hoang Kim, former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Energy in charge of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department.
Meanwhile, Mr. Do Duc Quan, former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Energy, holds the position of Deputy Director, with the rank of Director, of the newly established Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Son, former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Energy in charge of the Oil, Gas and Coal Department.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Tho, former Deputy Director General of the General Department of Energy, will hold the position of Deputy Director, with the rank of Director, of the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal until he reaches the retirement age as stipulated by regulations.
The leaders of the abolished departments have also been transferred to new positions. Specifically, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, former Director of the Department of American Markets, is now in charge of the Domestic Market Department.
With a new person in charge, Mr. Nguyen Loc An, Deputy Director in charge of the Domestic Market Department, has also stepped down from his position. Mr. Nguyen Loc An took over this department after its former director, Mr. Vo Van Quyen, retired a short while ago.
Another department that was abolished was the Department of Border and Mountainous Region Trade, and its leaders also took on new assignments. For example, Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, former Deputy Director of the Department of Border and Mountainous Region Trade, was appointed Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi, former Deputy Director of the Department of Border and Mountain Trade, has been appointed Deputy Director of the Department of Domestic Market.
With the new name of the Department of E-commerce and Information Technology, the leadership remains largely unchanged, with only their job titles being rebranded to reflect the new unit name.
Specifically, Ms. Lai Viet Anh, former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of E-commerce and Information Technology, will hold the position of Deputy Director in charge of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy until a director is appointed for this department.
Mr. Nguyen The Quang, former Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Information Technology, has been appointed as Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy.
Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan, former Deputy Director of the Competition Management Department, was in charge of the newly established Competition and Consumer Protection Department until its appointment as director.
