Performing the famous ballet "The Nutcracker" to welcome Christmas
The Vietnam National Opera and Ballet and the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will jointly perform the famous ballet "The Nutcracker" with music by Russian composer Tchaikovsky to welcome Christmas this year.

Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will perform this play on 3 nights, November 27, 28 and 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House.
At the Hanoi Opera House, on the evening of December 7, the capital's audience will enjoy the famous ballet "The Nutcracker".
Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker," "Swan Lake," and "The Sleeping Beauty" are among the most famous ballet music pieces in the world of ballet.
"The Nutcracker" is one of the most performed ballets in the world, especially during the Christmas season.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is known as the most representative Russian composer of the romantic music period.
With music by Tchaikovsky, the ballet "The Nutcracker" is based on the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by writer ETA Hoffmann, and has been staged and performed with many different choreographic versions by world-famous choreographers.
Since the 1960s, "The Nutcracker" has been full of fairy tale colors, sparkling, attractive and dramatic, loved by audiences all over the world, especially young audiences.
In Ho Chi Minh City, "The Nutcracker" was first performed in December 2011. Since then, every Christmas, this ballet by the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera has become a Christmas gift that many Vietnamese and foreign audiences in the city look forward to.
This program will feature two beautiful and talented international ballerinas: French ballerina Chloe Glemot, and South African ballerina Michaela Griffin. They have performed with the biggest ballet companies in Europe.
Conducting the symphony orchestra and choir performing live in the auditorium was the talented Russian conductor Marius Stravinsky.
"The Nutcracker" of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet is performed by artists of the dance troupe, under the direction of People's Artist Ngo Thi Kieu Ngan. The content of the play has been partially changed compared to the original.
The ballet promises to bring beautiful emotions to the audience when the standard classical dance art is combined with music. Especially the costumes, makeup and stage setting recreate the magical fairy tale atmosphere.
Although shortened, "The Nutcracker" of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet still retains beautiful dance segments, lyrical music that is expected such as the "March" or the couple dance segment.
"The Nutcracker" is a story about a young girl named Clara. At a Christmas party, Clara was greeted by her friends with innocent and cheerful dances and a puppet as a gift. Everyone left, Clara fell asleep on the armchair in the living room. The clock struck 12, in a dream between reality and fantasy, she dreamed of giant, terrifying rats appearing, and the tin soldiers intervened to protect her.
And a battle took place, at the climax, a warrior appeared with his tin soldiers to chase away the mice. Clara realized that it was her puppet that had transformed into a young man - the young warrior. From her love for her puppet, Clara's feelings gradually turned into love for the young man. The young man took her into a dreamy fairy kingdom with beautiful dances./
