The protesters carried banners and chanted slogans calling for the repeal of the Protest Law, respect for the rights and freedoms of expression of the people, and the release of activists detained by the government.
Some protesters carried banners condemning the military and police for suppressing the demonstrations, while others tore down billboards and posters promoting General El Sisi in the upcoming presidential election.
According to the Ahram (Pyramid) website, the protest was organized by non-Muslim groups, including the "October 6th" Movement and some left-wing forces.
The protest lasted for a few hours and no serious acts of violence or clashes were reported.
