A person believed to be an engineer from Kuka Corporation posted a photo of 467 robots being delivered to the California headquarters of Tesla, the car manufacturing company of billionaire Elon Musk. Each robot costs between $50,000 and $500,000, is capable of handling a variety of tasks and is expected to serve on the Tesla Model 3 production line, according to Mirror.

There will be no human presence on the Model 3 assembly line. According to billionaire Elon Musk, this will slow down the production speed of the product. However, there will be people supervising the robots, ensuring everything runs at the highest efficiency.

Most manufacturers test new production lines by building prototypes using cheap testing equipment that can be thrown away once the standard product is released. Tesla skipped that initial step in favor of ordering more expensive, long-lasting equipment. It is racing to launch the Model 3 in September.

Experts say mass-produced equipment is expensive to repair or replace if it breaks. Tesla has had quality issues with its current models. The Model 3 is expected to sell about 500,000 cars a year, raising the cost of recalls or warranty repairs.

Elon Musk discusses decision to abandon pilot production, saying advanced analytics will help Tesla develop car assembly tools. The company declined to confirm information about its production strategy.
