70-year-old father has child after many years of infertility treatment
Mr. Nam, 70 years old, and his wife, 54 years old, welcomed their baby boy at Hai Phong Obstetrics Hospital after many artificial inseminations.
Ms. Chinh went into labor on November 29 at Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Associate Professor Vu Van Tam, Director of the hospital, directly performed a cesarean section on her. The baby boy, weighing 2.3 kg, was born healthy, bringing joy to his family and the doctors.
Mr. Nam and his wife had their first son in 1991. After that, they wanted to have more children but treatment in many places was unsuccessful. A few years ago, their only son unfortunately passed away in a traffic accident. Since then, Mr. Nam and his wife have been yearning to have more children.
The couple went to many places for examination and artificial insemination but all failed. Hope gradually faded but the couple did not give up. In early 2019, Ms. Chinh went to the Reproductive Support Center, Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to try her luck again.

Associate Professor Tam said that Ms. Chinh is the oldest pregnant woman to give birth at the hospital. Her case is very special because for women over 50 years old, the ability to have children naturally is very difficult and very few cases still have eggs, so IVF is also very difficult. However, the mother's strong desire to be a mother made Dr. Tam agree to perform this surgery.
"Luckily, everything went smoothly," said Dr. Tam.
The oldest mother in Vietnam gave birth at the age of 60. One in Bac Giang had her third child, and another in Hanoi gave birth to her first child using another person's eggs.
