The trio Hoang Duc, Quang Hai, Duy Manh are in the Southeast Asian star squad to play against Manchester United.
Midfielders Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai and central defender Do Duy Manh were honored to be called up by the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) to the ASEAN All-Stars squad, preparing for the historic match against Manchester United in Malaysia.
The Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) has just officially announced the list of players selected for the ASEAN All-Stars team. The Vietnam national team has 3 outstanding faces participating: midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc (Phu Dong Ninh Binh), midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai (Hanoi Police) and central defender Do Duy Manh (Hanoi FC).
According to the announcement from AFF, the three Vietnamese players were selected based on their impressive performances, professional attitude and brave fighting spirit throughout the past time. Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc is highly appreciated for his ability to control the midfield and creative passes. Nguyen Quang Hai continues to affirm his class with skillful technique and extensive international experience. Meanwhile, Do Duy Manh stands out in the center of the defense with his solidity and high enthusiasm.
The ASEAN All-Stars will have a special friendly match against Manchester United on 28 May 2025 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The match is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, a meaningful event where all donations will be transferred to the Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA) charity fund in Malaysia. This is also an opportunity to honor regional football talents and affirm the role of the king sport in spreading good values.
Previously, AFF also surprised everyone when they decided to give the head coaching position of ASEAN All-Stars to coach Kim Sang-sik, who had just convincingly led the Vietnam team to the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship. This decision was considered by AFF as a worthy recognition for the success and reputation that the Korean strategist had built in the Southeast Asian football community.
