Instead of admiring the sights of Venice, Italy, a group of male tourists were still engrossed in their phones.

A video of a group of tourists busy using their phones while riding a gondola around Venice was filmed by a gondola operator and posted on Facebook. The man shared it with a sarcastic comment:

"It was a great trip. The tourists were very happy and enjoying the beauty of the city. They took lots of pictures, and had many comments. They even said they would come back to this wonderful city soon."

Traveling by gondola in Venice is an exciting experience but it's not cheap. Video: Facebook.

After being posted on the internet, this video quickly received a lot of attention and comments, Local reported on October 6.

"What's going on in the big wide world? You lose a lot of money just to be glued to your phone?" said Aldo Cazzullo, a journalist for Corriere.

One commenter said the boatman did a good job of highlighting the dangers we face: Many people live virtual lives instead of real ones. However, the boatman was also criticized for not trying to attract tourists.

"We sympathize with the boatman. But he didn't try to bring the tourists back to reality with a song or a story. He just filmed, with a phone," Aldo said.

Taking a gondola ride on the canals of Venice is an interesting experience that visitors should try when coming to this romantic city. Normally, the fee for a 40-minute gondola ride during the day is 80 euros and in the evening is 100 euros. This is considered a not cheap fee.

Gondoliers must have an official license. They must wear black pants, a striped shirt, black shoes, and may also wear a hat. Singing is not required of gondoliers, but they can provide some useful information to visitors. If you want to hear singing, you can negotiate with the gondolier in advance.
