Ministry of Public Security warns of tricks to guide installation of fake VneID to appropriate property
(Baonghean.vn) - The Ministry of Public Security has just issued a warning about a scam that impersonates the Police Agency to instruct on installing fake VneIDs to commit property appropriation.
According to the Ministry of Public Security: Recently, there have been a number of scammers impersonating the police calling people and then sending links via text messages or online chat applications (such as Zalo, Facebook...), instructing them to install fake VNeID application software with an interface similar to the real VNeID application, activating electronic identification accounts.
After people install it, the fake application is granted high-level access to the device (including reading personal data and reading messages containing OTP codes...), the subjects control the bank account application on people's phones, then execute money transfer orders and commit acts of property appropriation.
BecauseSo,The Ministry of Public Security recommends to people:
- Only install the VNeID application from official sources on the App Store (for iOS operating system for iPhone) and CH Play (for Android operating system). Absolutely do not install the VNeID application from external sources on websites, unofficial application stores, or from strange links.
- Do not enable the installation of applications from unknown sources on your phone, it can cause security risks for your device.
- Do not provide your personal information to others over the phone.
- Regularly update information on administrative procedures on the Electronic Information Portal or the official Fanpage of the Ministry of Public Security and local police. In case of doubt, contact the local police, commune police in the area or the nearest police agency for guidance.

The domain name to access the electronic information portal of the units under the Ministry on the Internet is in the form: tendonvi.bocongan.gov.vn or tendonvi.mps.gov.vn; in which, tendonvi is the abbreviated name or full name of the unit in Vietnamese without accents or in English.
The domain name to access the Provincial Public Security Portal on the Internet is in the form: congan.tentinhthanh.gov.vn; in which, tentinhthanh is the name of the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city.
