Ministry of Public Security investigates child death after vaccination in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - In July 2017, Bang's older sister also died after being vaccinated against Hepatitis B. The cause of Bang's death was only determined after the results from the Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security.
On the afternoon of July 12, the Nghe An Department of Health's professional council met to clarify the case of a 9-month-old baby who died after being vaccinated in Tan Ky. However, the cause of the victim's death is still pending the results of the Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security.
The deceased child was Nguyen Ngoc Khanh Bang, born on October 3, 2018, residing in Dao Nguyen hamlet, Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district. According to family members, after getting vaccinated on the morning of July 10, Bang played well. That evening, he developed a fever, so his family gave him fish mint leaves and applied a fever-reducing bandage to his forehead.
On the morning of July 11, the child turned purple and had convulsions. The family took him to the Tan Ky District Medical Center for emergency treatment. However, when they arrived at the Center, his heart had stopped beating.
After the incident, Tan Ky District Police coordinated with the commune authorities and the District Health Center to investigate and clarify the cause. Meanwhile, Nghe An Department of Health established a working group to Nghia Dung Commune, Tan Ky District to verify and collect related information; and reported the incident to the Ministry of Health.

A representative of the Nghe An Department of Health said that through inspection, the delegation found that the vaccine preservation and vaccination procedures were in accordance with regulations. It is known that in July 2017, Bang's older sister also died after being vaccinated against Hepatitis B with the same symptoms and conditions before death as her younger sister.
On July 11, the Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security went to Tan Ky to perform an autopsy and take samples for testing.
