Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that Mr. Vu Dinh Duy had seriously violated labor discipline and regulations on management of overseas travel. To review and handle Mr. Duy's violations, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 4510 on establishing a disciplinary council for enterprise managers to advise the Minister of Industry and Trade on the application of disciplinary measures against him.
“At the request of Vinachem, while the disciplinary council clarifies Mr. Vu Dinh Duy's violations to advise on the application of appropriate disciplinary measures, today (November 15), the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 4518 temporarily suspending Mr. Vu Dinh Duy from work,” said Mr. Tran Huu Linh.
Previously, on November 3, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had official information about Mr. Vu Dinh Duy not appearing at the office for many days and had a leave request. The Ministry of Industry and Trade also confirmed that it did not accept the request for medical leave. The Ministry directed Vinachem to summon Mr. Duy to the agency to comply with the provisions of the law.
Mr. Vu Dinh Duy, born in 1975, was transferred and appointed to Vinachem in mid-April this year. Previously, Mr. Duy held the position of General Director of PVtex Company from July 15, 2009 to February 2014. After that, he was demoted from General Director to Deputy General Director of PVTex.
Regarding PVTex Company, in early October 2016, the Government Inspectorate concluded its inspection of the investment in the construction of the Dinh Vu Polyester Fiber Factory project, invested by this Company.
The Government Inspectorate also said that during the inspection of the project, it discovered signs of intentional violations and lack of responsibility in approving the project, selecting contractors, and signing contracts with contractors, causing loss and waste of investment capital. Therefore, the Government Inspectorate recommended that the Ministry of Public Security receive the dossier for investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
Previously, in 2008, the Board of Directors of PVTex Company approved the Dinh Vu Polyester Fiber Factory project with a total investment of nearly 325 million USD, equivalent to 5,437 billion VND. However, after 2 years of production and business operations, this project lost more than 1,472 billion VND, had to operate at a low level and stopped operating at the end of 2015.
