The weather on Song Tu Tay Island is rainy and the storm winds are starting to blow strongly. According to the island command, the waves and winds have gradually increased since the night of September 16. Currently, the rain is heavy and the sea surface is hazy and windy. Meanwhile, at three points on islands A, B, C of Da Tay island, the Fisheries Logistics Center on this island implemented a plan to protect fish cages safely. The island's wharf also checked the safety of the wharf, set up emergency teams, mobilized quickly, and was ready to receive fishermen's boats for shelter, prepared food, fresh water, cooking oil, salt and necessary fishing gear, and arranged accommodation for fishermen to come to the island to avoid the storm.

On the morning of September 17, in the DK1 sea area, there were strong winds and heavy rain over a wide area. From the DK1/17 platform, Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Nam, commander, said that the waves were level 6 and the sea was rough.
To cope with storm No. 5, officers and soldiers strictly followed storm prevention regulations. They fixed equipment such as communication antennas and TVRO satellite dishes, increased sea observation, monitored moving ships, were ready to receive fishermen's boats to anchor, and implemented plans to leave home when ordered.
