In recent days, information about Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hien’s proposal to improve the Vietnamese writing system has been causing a stir in public opinion. There are articles about his proposal that have received thousands of comments, many of which are personal criticisms.
Many people expressed concern if Associate Professor Bui Hien's proposal was widely approved by authorities...
Faced with this phenomenon, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said:
"Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hien's opinion on improving the national language is a proposal in a scientific conference of the Linguistics sector. The Ministry of Education and Training respects all serious research works and proposals of scientists.
However, to put a proposal related to the issue of improving the writing of the national language into practice requires the assessment of experts, opinions of all classes of people and consideration and decision of the National Assembly and the Government. The Ministry of Education and Training does not have enough authority and does not plan to apply any plan to improve the national writing at the present stage."
