(Baonghean.vn) - Instead of taking 6 subjects as at present, from 2025, the High School Graduation Exam will only have 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects and 2 elective subjects.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Decision No. 4068/QD-BGDDT dated November 28, 2023 approving the "Plan to organize the Exam and consider recognizing high school graduation from 2025".

Accordingly, the High School Graduation Exam will be held nationwide with the same questions, same exam sessions, and same time according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Candidates must take compulsory exams in Literature, Mathematics and 2 elective subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12, which are Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology. In which, Literature is tested in essay form. The remaining subjects are tested in multiple choice form.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the purpose of the exam is to accurately assess the learning outcomes of learners according to the goals and standards required by the 2018 General Education Program; to use exam results to consider recognition of high school graduation and to serve as one of the bases for assessing the quality of teaching and learning of general education institutions and the direction of education management agencies; to provide reliable data for universities and vocational education institutions to use in enrollment in the spirit of autonomy.

Graduation recognition combines the results of process assessment and graduation exam results at a rate consistent with the implementation roadmap of the 2018 General Education Program.

Thus, after many months of nationwide consultation, the 4-subject graduation exam plan officially took effect, instead of the previous 5-subject or 6-subject exam plan. This is also a plan that received the support of a large number of teachers, students, schools and parents.
