Ministry of Transport calculates to sell airplane meals at maximum 100,000 VND/meal/flight
The Ministry of Transport has just submitted to the Government a draft Circular regulating the price framework for concessions for exploiting aviation services, in which the selling price of airline meals is set at a minimum of VND 75,000/meal/flight and a maximum of VND 100,000/meal/flight.
This transfer price is calculated as the service revenue of the aviation service provider, airline. According to some service providers, the price of meals needs to be lower to increase competitiveness.

According to the Circular, the price framework for exploiting aviation services is set at minimum and maximum levels for resale franchise, organizing bidding, and calculating service transfer contract prices for enterprises, organizations, and individuals providing aviation services.
In the above specific price ranges, the provision of airline meals is of particular interest. Currently, the minimum price in the transfer price range is 75,000 VND/meal/flight and the maximum is 100,000 VND/meal/flight. This price does not include value added tax (VAT).
According to the Draft Circular, the case where the transfer price for aviation service exploitation is not calculated is when the flight does not use airline catering services from franchised enterprises.
Organizations and individuals granted a license to provide aviation services shall provide corresponding aviation services for their own businesses.
Regarding transfer prices according to percentages such as international passenger terminal exploitation (minimum 3.5% and maximum 7%); terminal and cargo warehouse exploitation from 1.5% to maximum 2%...
According to the explanation of the Ministry of Transport in the above Draft Circular, the percentage is based on the actual revenue collected from organizations and individuals participating in providing the corresponding services.
Commenting on the transfer price of airline meals in the above Draft Circular, Danang Airport Services Joint Stock Company (MASCo) proposed that the Ministry of Transport consider issuing a lower fee to help catering businesses in the Vietnamese aviation industry feel secure in investing in competitive technical facilities and deeply integrating into the international aviation industry.
