Uber and Grab cars will have to list the name and phone number of the business unit on both sides of the car, with an identifying logo.

The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document responding to the recommendations of the Hanoi Taxi Association on a number of issues regarding the pilot electronic contract vehicles.

In response to the Association's proposal that Uber and Grab vehicles must have their logos attached, the Ministry of Transport said that using electronic data instead of paper contracts is an application of science and technology to support the management and connection of passenger transport activities under contracts. According to regulations, these vehicles must list the name and phone number of the business unit on both sides of the vehicle body or on both sides of the vehicle doors.

The Ministry of Transport has requested software suppliers to develop plans to design, print, and issue logos for vehicles. The Ministry has also directed the Departments of Transport to urge units to strictly implement this regulation and issue a common logo template to be pasted on pilot vehicles.

Vehicles participating in the electronic contract pilot must have a logo for identification.

Regarding the proposal that drivers must be professionally trained, have a practice certificate, wear uniforms, and carry employee identification cards, the Ministry of Transport said it will study this content to include in the revised Decree 86.

Regarding the proposal to stop increasing the number of vehicles participating in the pilot electronic contract of the Hanoi Taxi Association, the Ministry of Transport said that this is a type of passenger transport under contract, with badges issued by the Department of Transport. Therefore, the Ministry proposed that the Prime Minister allow localities to consider temporarily not issuing badges for contract vehicles under 9 seats until the planning of vehicles in the area is established and implemented.

Regarding the recommendation that Uber and Grab vehicles declare prices, the Ministry of Transport also requested that the Departments of Transport supplement the price declaration for this vehicle like taxis and passenger cars.

In early October, in a document sent to the Government, the Hanoi Taxi Association proposed that vehicles such as Uber and Grab must have their logos and symbols affixed in a uniform color and position to ensure easy recognition. These vehicles must have their own model badges to distinguish between vehicles in the pilot program and regular contract vehicles.
