Ministry of Transport proposes to reduce registration fee and road usage fee

The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document to the Ministry of Finance proposing to reduce the registration fee for motor vehicles to 0 VND in the last 4 months of 2021.

In addition, the ministry also proposed that the Ministry of Finance consider extending the validity of Circular No. 47/2021 on reducing road usage fees by 30% for passenger transport vehicles and 10% for transport vehicles until June 30, 2022.

At the end of August, the Vietnam Register sent a document requesting the Ministry of Transport to propose to the Ministry of Finance to reduce the registration fee for motor vehicles. If the above plan is approved, the budget revenue will decrease by 1.6 billion VND, a figure that will not greatly affect localities.

Regarding the price of vehicle inspection services, the Vietnam Register said that after consulting with 121 Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers, 95 Centers did not agree with the plan to reduce the price of vehicle inspection services.

“The reason is due to the epidemic situation, the small number of inspected vehicles, low revenue, most units are suffering losses. On the other hand, many units have commented that the current inspection service price is based on the fee issued from 2013 to present, so the inspection service price itself is lower than the actual cost. Therefore, there are also units proposing to increase the inspection service price…” - Vietnam Register said.
