On June 10th, many people were surprised to find Mr. Liu (48 years old), completely soaked, standing and trembling on a mound of earth in the middle of the Yiwu River in Zhejiang.
Locals immediately reported the incident to the police. Soon after, local police arrived. They gave Liu a lifebuoy, helped him calm down, and then brought him back to shore.
Mr. Luu stated that he is a businessman and intends to commit suicide because he has lost a large sum of money.
At around 7 p.m. that evening, he jumped into the river, but he immediately regretted his foolish decision, because "the water was so foul-smelling and dirty," he said.
The man then swam downstream for several kilometers before being rescued. "I would never do something so stupid again," Liu said.
