Ministry of Foreign Affairs works with Nghe An province on integration and local diplomacy

Promoting the country's new position and strength, closely following the foreign policy of the 13th Party Congress, on the basis of the Foreign Affairs Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nghe An province for the period 2023-2025, the international integration work and foreign affairs activities of Nghe An province have many innovations and strong changes.

Activities demonstrate synchronization and effectiveness on three pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and People's diplomacy.

Besides the achieved results, the foreign affairs work of Nghe An province still has some difficulties and limitations, especially in the process of implementing foreign affairs activities when implementing two-level local government.

In order for foreign affairs to continue to go into depth and better serve the province's socio-economic development goals in the new period, Nghe An province hopes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will pay attention to directing and supporting the province in important foreign affairs activities in the coming years, especially long-term strategies, programs and projects in the province's foreign affairs.

Thereby, creating conditions for Nghe An province to participate in Central working delegations on promoting the locality, attracting investment, trade and tourism; Supporting the province in expanding twinning activities with new localities to diversify partners; Strengthening training and fostering for the team of cadres and civil servants working in foreign affairs of the province.

Along with that, coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to continue to pay attention and propose to the Government to promote the implementation of the project to build the Hanoi - Vientiane expressway through Thanh Thuy Border Gate (Nghe An). At the same time, soon consult with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR to consider upgrading Nam On Border Gate (Bo Ly Kham Xay Province) to the main border gate to be similar to Thanh Thuy Border Gate (Nghe An Province has been upgraded since 2012); creating conditions for entry and exit, import and export on both sides of the border.

Nghe An province also proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to promptly issue procedures to repair, construct, repair and reinforce damaged national border markers, ensuring consistency in implementation by localities. Regularly provide information and situation on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' advisory work on cases related to the prevention of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing so that localities can be updated on the situation and coordinate in handling related cases.

At the working session, the delegation also discussed the current difficulties of the province such as introducing and connecting partners in the field of economic diplomacy, especially FDI investors; regulations on foreign affairs management; implementing foreign affairs activities at the commune level in land border areas... and many issues of concern to the province.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh thanked the delegation for their extremely important and practical guidance and direction for the province's foreign affairs. At the same time, he affirmed that in the coming time, the province will coordinate more closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to effectively implement the contents of the Foreign Affairs Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the province for the period 2023-2025, and continue to promote effectiveness in the period 2025-2030.
