Ministry of Foreign Affairs speaks out about Chinese tourists wearing “cow tongue line” shirts in Nha Trang
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs requests that relevant parties respect sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to affirm its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as its sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction over related maritime areas in the East Sea in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed this afternoon.

The "cow tongue line" or "nine-dash line" was drawn by China brazenly, claiming sovereignty over almost the entire area of the East Sea, despite opposition from the international community. On July 12, 2016, the Permanent Court of Arbitration declared that China had no legal basis to claim historical rights to resources within the "cow tongue line".
