"I can say right away that no British media will be able to operate in our country if they close RT," Zakharova said on the "60 Minutes" program on the "Russia 1" TV channel.

On Tuesday, British media regulator Ofcom warned license holder RT - the autonomous non-profit organisation "Television News" - of possible penalties due to the "Skripal affair".

In return, RT TV channel responded that Ofcom exceeded its responsibilities and was "engaging in state activities".

"This week, our broadcasting policy has not changed, still meeting all standards," the RT website stated.

Yesterday, British Prime Minister Theresa May said that Russian authorities were involved in the poisoning of former GRU Colonel Sergey Skripal "with a high probability". Meanwhile, Mrs May has not provided any evidence.

Several British MPs have since called for sanctions against RT, including revoking its license. In response, the Russian channel has said that such restrictions would only harm British society.

Editor-in-Chief of RT and MIA "Russia Today" Margarita Simonyan expressed the opinion that Moscow will respond to London in kind regarding the revocation of the license.

Roskomnadzor also announced that Russia would take retaliatory measures if RT TV channel was stripped of its license in the UK.
