Appointing Major General Nguyen Manh Hung as Viettel's General Director

On February 21, 2014, at the Ministry of National Defense Hall, General Phung Quang Thanh - Minister of National Defense, on behalf of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee, presented the decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy General Director of the Military Telecommunications Group to hold the position of General Director of the Military Telecommunications Group.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung will officially start running the Military Telecommunications Group from March 1, 2014, replacing retired Lieutenant General Hoang Anh Xuan.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung was born in 1962, graduated in Electronics and Telecommunications from the former Soviet Union, got a Master's degree in Telecommunications from Australia, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the National Economics University. Mr. Hung was one of the first people assigned by the Ministry of National Defense to Viettel since its inception (1989). He has held the position of Deputy Director of the Military Telecommunications Company since June 2000 and has held the position of Deputy General Director of Viettel Group since January 2010.

The appointment of Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung is considered to maintain Viettel's growth in the context that the Vietnamese telecommunications market has entered a period of saturation, OTT services are eroding traditional telecommunications revenue, and foreign investment is also more difficult.

Mr. Hung will continue to steer Viettel to achieve the goal of making Viettel one of the 20 largest telecommunications and IT companies in the world, one of the 10 largest telecommunications companies in terms of overseas investment. Viettel's main areas of focus are telecommunications, IT, overseas investment and equipment research and production.
