Base units need to review emergency response action plans for dangerous avian viruses that can be transmitted to humans; update markets that trade live poultry and collection points for live poultry of unknown origin to focus on monitoring; at the same time, strictly handle cases of trading in smuggled poultry and poultry products; continue to strengthen proactive monitoring, organize sampling for A/H7N9 virus and other virus strains on smuggled poultry, poultry sold at live poultry markets and the environment to detect early virus intrusion for timely handling measures.
Localities need to direct local health agencies to strengthen surveillance, detect suspected cases of influenza, proactively coordinate with veterinary agencies to investigate, verify, and trace the origin of related poultry for thorough handling.
When detecting A/H7N9 virus and new virus strains appearing in poultry or in the environment, it is necessary to immediately notify the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and at the same time organize the implementation of thorough and timely handling measures according to the instructions of veterinary agencies to prevent the virus from spreading widely, including the measure of temporarily suspending the trade of live poultry for 7 to 10 days in markets where the virus is detected for disinfection.
According to the announcement from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in 2015, China had 226 more people infected with A/H7N9 flu, of which 94 cases died. So far, the A/H7N9 virus has been mainly detected in humans, poultry and the environment in China, including Guangxi province bordering Vietnam.
