Ministry of Agriculture proposes 4 options for exploiting marine fish in the Central region after the Formosa incident
Prohibiting fishermen from fishing in waters 10 nautical miles from shore is one of four fishing plans after the Formosa incident, applied from Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) to the end of Son Cha island (Thua Thien - Hue).
On the morning of August 27, in Thua Thien - Hue, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference "Reporting on the progress of declaration and statistics of damage caused by environmental incidents in the Central region and discussing solutions to direct seafood production".

At the conference, based on the results of the investigation and assessment of the level and scope of marine environmental pollution announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on August 22, the Ministry of Agriculture issued guidelines for the exploitation and monitoring of seafood products, aquaculture and salt production in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue.
Regarding fisheries exploitation, the Ministry of Agriculture presented four options for the Conference to discuss.
Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Fisheries Nguyen Ngoc Oai said the first plan is to ban fishermen from exploiting seafood in the sea area 10 nautical miles from the shore, stretching from Vung Ang to the end of Hon Son Cha (Thua Thien-Hue) and to strengthen the supervision of food safety and seafood products exploited at fishing ports and fishing wharves when the ships return to shore.

The second is to allow fishermen to operate normally but ban three sea areas as recommended by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, including sea areas 1.5 km from shore in Son Duong (Ha Tinh) with an area of 300 km2, Nhat Le (Quang Binh) with an area of 330 km2, Hon Son Cha (Thua Thien - Hue) with an area of 160 km2. At the same time, the authorities will strengthen the supervision of food safety and seafood products exploited at fishing ports and fishing wharves when the ships return to shore.
Third, allow fishermen to operate normally, strengthen food safety supervision of seafood products exploited at fishing ports and fishing wharves when the boats return to shore. Ban bottom fishing from 20 nautical miles inward in 4 central provinces.for the following occupations: net, drag, bottom trawl, rolling, cage trap.
Fourthly, allow fishermen to participate in normal seafood exploitation activities in the sea and strengthen the supervision of food safety and seafood products exploited at fishing ports and fishing wharves when the ships return.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture also proposed a plan to restore normal aquaculture activities at sea and in coastal areas in four provinces.For the salt industry, organize propaganda and guide salt workers to participate in normal salt production activities and periodically take samples to monitor food safety.
