Previously, at the Politburo meeting on the morning of June 21, 2019 chaired by General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, after considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Commission in Submission No. 201-TTr/UBKTTW, dated June 7, 2019, on the proposal to take party discipline against Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, the Politburo found that during his tenure as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Navy, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien was responsible for serious violations and shortcomings of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Navy in deploying and organizing the implementation of the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee in the management and use of defense land managed by the Navy.

Mr. Hien is primarily responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Navy and personally responsible for the violations and shortcomings: Improperly exercising authority, violating legal regulations on land management and use, investment and construction of 10 defense lands; violating the principle of democratic centralism and the Working Regulations of the Navy Party Committee, lax leadership and direction, and lacking responsibility in inspection and supervision in the management and use of defense lands.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hien

During the review process, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien seriously acknowledged his political responsibility for the violations and shortcomings of the Party Committee Standing Committee, of the Navy, and his personal responsibility for the violations and shortcomings in performing his assigned duties and tasks.

The authorities have reviewed and determined that Mr. Nguyen Van Hien's violations and shortcomings are very serious, causing great damage to the State and Army's money and assets, leading to the prosecution, investigation and criminal handling of a number of cadres and party members in the Navy, negatively affecting the reputation of the Party organization, the Army and Mr. Hien himself.

Previously, at the 36th session, the Central Inspection Committee held a meeting to propose the Politburo and the Secretariat to consider and discipline Mr. Nguyen Van Hien. Accordingly, during his tenure as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Navy, Mr. Hien was also responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Party Committee Standing Committee; was primarily responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Navy and personally responsible for the management and use of national defense land./.
