"The Central Military Commission's viewpoint is to handle the situation strictly, cautiously, objectively, rationally, with the right people, the right shortcomings, the right procedures, without exception" - Major General Nguyen Van Duc said.
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, the fact that the Central Military Commission Standing Committee must take disciplinary action against violating collectives and individuals belonging to affiliated agencies and units is undesirable, but necessary to strictly maintain Party regulations, State laws, and military discipline.
Previously, at the Politburo meeting on the morning of June 21, 2019 chaired by General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, after considering the proposal of the Central Inspection Commission in Submission No. 201-TTr/UBKTTW, dated June 7, 2019, on the proposal to take party discipline against Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, the Politburo found that during his tenure as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the Navy, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien was responsible for serious violations and shortcomings of the Standing Committee of the Navy Party Committee in deploying and organizing the implementation of the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee in the management and use of defense land managed by the Navy.
Mr. Hien is primarily responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Navy and personally responsible for the violations and shortcomings: Improperly exercising authority, violating legal regulations on land management and use, investment and construction of 10 defense lands; violating the principle of democratic centralism and the Working Regulations of the Navy Party Committee, lax leadership and direction, and lacking responsibility for inspection and supervision in the management and use of defense lands.
