In March this year, presidential aide for military-technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin said that Russia was supplying tanks to Iraq to equip its armored brigade. The first batch of 10 tanks was sent to the Iraqi side in February.
"Within the framework of the Iraqi army's development plan and the most modern weapons, the 35th unit of the 9th brigade received Russian T-90S tanks under the contract between Iraq and Russia," - the Ministry said.
According to the Iraqi side, the Division received a total of 39 T-90S tanks. The statement noted that the T-90S tanks are fast and can accurately destroy targets in static and moving positions thanks to the night vision system.
