Russian Defense Ministry announces large-scale military exercises in the Mediterranean Sea
Large-scale exercises of the Russian Navy and Aerospace Forces will take place in the Mediterranean Sea from September 1 to September 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"According to the prepared plan, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the command of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Vladimir Korolev, will hold large-scale exercises in the Mediterranean Sea from September 1 to September 8, 2018, with the participation of the Russian Navy and the Russian Aerospace Forces," the statement said.
It is known that the exercises will involve warships of the Northern Fleet, the Baltic Fleet, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla, long-range aircraft, military transport aircraft and maritime aircraft.
"To ensure the security of maritime traffic and aircraft operations, the exercise area will be declared dangerous for the movement of ships and aircraft, based on the provisions of international law," the statement added.
