Russian Defense Ministry denies 9M729 missile swapping at press conference
Press statements about Russia's "other missiles", which apparently violate the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, are attempts by the US special services to evade responsibility for lies, - Major General Igor Konashenkov said.
Earlier, the Daily Beast, citing a source "familiar with the CIA", reported that US intelligence officers had claimed that the missile presented by the Russian government during a briefing for foreign representatives on January 23 "was not the 9M729 cruise missile".

"After a month, a "leak" appeared in the American media, citing two US intelligence agencies, claiming that at the press conference of the Russian Ministry of Defense on January 23, military attaches presented "some other types of missiles" instead of the 9M729, which shows that someone has a "warm head", - Major General Konashenkov said.
He stressed that at the press conference, the launcher of the modernized "Iskander" complex and the transport-launcher container of the "9M728" missile, as well as its variant with an increased warhead - "9M729", were presented, proving that "swapping" of missiles is impossible.
"The 'leaks' that appeared a month later in the US media about the existence of a 'different type of Russian missile' were in fact an attempt by the US special services to evade responsibility for their own lies," Konashenkov stressed.
