Ministry of Finance tightens management of gold trading activities
(Baonghean.vn) - The Minister of Finance has issued an official dispatch requesting the General Director of the General Department of Customs and the General Director of the General Department of Taxation to focus on directing the implementation of enhanced measures to prevent smuggling and illegal gold trading.
The first,The General Department of Customs directs customs agencies at all levels to proactively and regularly coordinate closely with police, border guards, and market management forces; step up inspection, investigation, and promptly organize the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across land and sea borders and other locations within customs operations, focusing on fighting against smuggling cases and illegal transportation of gold and foreign currencies; strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law, especially gold smuggling across borders.
Monday,The General Department of Taxation directs the Tax Departments to proactively and actively coordinate with local authorities to step up inspection of compliance with regulations on the application of electronic invoices at enterprises, stores, and gold trading locations; regularly and closely coordinate with the police and market management forces to promptly detect and strictly handle violations of tax and invoices according to regulations; immediately transfer files to the police agency to handle cases showing signs of violating criminal law.
Tuesday,Heads of units shall promptly and seriously carry out the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Finance in Official Dispatch No. 4579/BTC-VP dated May 4, 2024 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods, in order to contribute to the good management of gold import, export and trading activities. During the implementation process, if any problems arise, promptly report to the Ministry of Finance for guidance.

Implementing the direction of the superiors, Nghe An Tax Department has also recently issued a document to strengthen tax management for gold trading activities. Accordingly, the Tax Department has directed Tax Branches to proactively and actively coordinate with local authorities to step up inspection of compliance with regulations on applying electronic invoices at enterprises, stores, and gold trading locations, regularly coordinate closely with the police force, and market management to promptly detect and strictly handle violations of tax and invoices according to regulations, and immediately transfer cases to competent authorities for handling when there are signs of violations of criminal law.
Currently, the Nghe An Tax Department, the State Bank of Vietnam, Nghe An branch, the Market Management Department and other relevant agencies are coordinating to inspect and monitor gold trading establishments if there are any violations.
Previously, the Nghe An Market Management Department coordinated with relevant agencies to draw up a record of administrative violations and submit it to the competent authority to issue a decision to impose a fine of VND 85 million for the act of trading in counterfeit trademark goods in Dien Chau district.
