According to South Korean broadcaster KBS, on October 13, Mr. Kim Jong-un visited the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, a training facility for the next generation of leaders under the North Korean military. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Mr. Kim's visit was to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the school's founding.

On this special occasion, North Korea released a stamp set of three generations of North Korean leaders with images of the two late leaders Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, and current leader Kim Jong-un when they visited soldiers.

According to AP, Mangyongdae School was originally established in 1947 to raise and educate the children of North Korean soldiers who died in battle. Later, the school expanded its comprehensive training scale and focused on training students to become the "core force" of the North Korean army in the future. This was also the school that the late leader Kim Jong-il attended during the Korean War.

The students here are considered to represent the elite youth in North Korea, always ready to sacrifice themselves for the Fatherland and the path chosen by the country's leaders. In addition to learning knowledge, the students are also trained in physical strength and weapon skills.

Tensions on the Korean peninsula have recently escalated as Pyongyang has repeatedly tested ballistic missiles and conducted its “unprecedentedly powerful” nuclear weapons test. Relations between the US and North Korea have increasingly deteriorated as the two sides have continuously attacked and threatened to attack each other.

Most recently, North Korea is believed to be preparing to test-launch a ballistic missile ahead of joint US-South Korean military exercises, Donga Ilbo newspaper quoted a government source as saying.

The article published satellite images showing North Korea moving missiles and launchers, which has prompted US and South Korean officials to express concerns that North Korea could launch missiles to attack US territory in the future.
