Minister of Public Security speaks about Trinh Xuan Thanh's return to the country
Minister of Public Security To Lam said there is no information about Trinh Xuan Thanh returning to the country as spread on social networks.
This morning, speaking with Ho Chi Minh City Law, regarding some information that the Ministry of Public Security has extradited Trinh Xuan Thanh to Vietnam to serve the investigation, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security said: "I currently have no information."
When reporters asked about the information that the investigation agency had extradited Trinh Xuan Thanh to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper wanted to give official information from the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam said: "Until now I still have no information."

Previously, on April 17, at the meeting of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - Head of the Steering Committee requested the prosecution agencies to concentrate their forces to investigate and expand the case that occurred at the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC); arrest and extradite Trinh Xuan Thanh to serve the investigation and handling of the case.
On April 1, regarding the Trinh Xuan Thanh case, the Ministry of Public Security announced that the Investigation Police Agency had just prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Do Van Hong (50 years old, residing in Bac Ninh), Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Kinh Bac Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC-KBC, a subsidiary of PVC). Mr. Hong was prosecuted for investigation of the crime of intentionally violating State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences.

Along with that, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tien (51 years old, residing in Hanoi), former Deputy General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC), who was already prosecuted for intentionally violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences, is now being prosecuted for a new crime.
The Ministry of Public Security said the two suspects were arrested during the investigation into the criminal case of Trinh Xuan Thanh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors; and Vu Duc Thuan, former General Director of PVC, for embezzlement and intentionally violating State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences.
Thus, up to now, in relation to the case, the police have prosecuted 10 defendants who were former PVC officials to serve the investigation.
Previously, on September 16, 2016, the Investigation Police Agency issued a decision to prosecute Trinh Xuan Thanh for intentionally violating State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences; at the same time, issued an order for temporary detention and a search warrant for Trinh Xuan Thanh.
After determining that the defendant Trinh Xuan Thanh was on the run, the Ministry of Public Security issued a national and international wanted notice for Trinh Xuan Thanh.
In connection with the case, the police have also prosecuted and temporarily detained four other defendants, including Vu Duc Thuan (former member of the Board of Directors and General Director); Nguyen Manh Tien (Deputy General Director), Truong Quoc Dung (former Deputy General Director) and Pham Tien Dat (former Chief Accountant of PVC) for intentionally violating State regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences.
Then, on February 15, 2017, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency issued a decision to prosecute five defendants for embezzlement. The five defendants prosecuted include: Mr. Luong Van Hoa, former director of the Vung Ang - Quang Trach Project Management Board, PVC; Mr. Le Xuan Khanh, head of the General Economics Department of the Vung Ang - Quang Trach Project Management Board; Mr. Nguyen Ly Hai, former head of the Technical Department of the Vung Ang - Quang Trach Project Management Board. Along with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quynh, director of the Technical Technology Department, Central Corporation; Ms. Le Thi Anh Hoa, director of Quynh Hoa LLC. Ms. Hoa is currently banned from leaving her place of residence./.
